For Parents

Welcome Parents!

Since its inception in 1982, La Unidad Latina has remained on the vanguard of political and community empowerment by developing influential leaders that strive to exert knowledge and power into its peers in order to attain mutual success.

We commit ourselves to academic excellence, leadership development and cultural enlightenment, enhanced by a diverse cognizant membership.

Leadership

We believe in developing strong, responsible leaders. Our mission centers on academic achievement, cultural awareness, and service. Parents play an important role in this growth. Hermanos are expected to lead with integrity and carry themselves with respect in all areas of life.

Academics

Academic success is a top priority. La Unidad Latina was founded to support the advancement of Latino students in higher education. We promote high standards and provide a strong support system to help our members succeed throughout college and beyond.

Brotherhood

Our motto, La Unidad Para Siempre, reflects the deep and lasting bonds between our members. Brotherhood in LUL is more than friendship. It is a network of support that continues well after graduation. When your son joins, your family becomes part of ours.

Health and Safety

La Unidad Latina strictly prohibits hazing. We are fully committed to the safety and well-being of every prospective member and Hermano. If you have any questions, we welcome you to contact our Officer of Internal Affairs at internal.affairs@launidadlatina.org

Parental Engagement

We encourage parents to stay informed and engaged as their child explores joining a fraternity. Here are a few ways you can help:

  • Check that the organization is officially recognized by the college or university

  • Attend open house events hosted by the school

  • Review the school’s Greek Life website and policies

  • Learn more about the fraternity and its values

  • Join fraternity-sponsored events when possible

  • Talk openly with your child about your thoughts or concerns

  • Support your child as they make their final decision
